Pontefract and Castleford
Situated in both Pontefract & Castleford’s Market Halls, Cryer & Stott Cheesemongers Pontefract & Castleford are run as a franchise by Richards brother Stuart. The shops sell a wide selection of cheese, cooked meats, cured bacon, gammons, and freshly baked award-winning pork pies. They also have a fresh delivery of locally baked bread each day. On the shelving you’ll find a mouth-watering range of chutneys, pickles and jams; and carry a gourmet range of foods from around the world. The Pontefract branch has a small seating area, serving a range of coffees and teas, also hot and cold food to eat in or take away.
Samuel Valentine is a beautifully designed food hall in Allerton Bywater created by Cryer & Stott Cheesemongers back in 2008. The food hall is named after the children of Richard & Clare the directors. It was a real home coming for the Holmes family as they have a long-standing food history in the village of Allerton Bywater. Richards great grandfather, great uncle & grandfather owned the original butcher’s shop in the village. In 2019 the day to day running of the food hall was taken over by top French chef Valérie Hamelin, meaning our loyal customers still receive top quality cheese, pies & deli lines served by the same welcoming staff. In the food hall you’ll find defined sections such as the butchery department serving handcrafted sausages, burgers & home cured bacon, fully stocked deli counter serving award winning Cryer & Stott cheese & pies, also locally served ales. The café is a real foodie heaven serving reasonable priced dishes, coffee & cakes.
